Milwaukee, Wisconsin

This Lustron home was reported as being razed in August, 2011. The property was sold in July 2011 for $13,000.00 including the lot. It was largely original and retained the original roof, windows, exterior doors, kitchen cabinets, bathroom tub & cabinet, and exterior panels. One of the bedrooms still retained the Lustron asphalt composition floor tiles. The photos appear to have been taken in 2011 for the property sale.

The Lustron Serial Number plate had been removed. Based on the pairs of miniature windows in the bedrooms, it is one of the earlier model 02 installations.

The photos also reveal rusting of the kitchen cabinets, the bathroom cabinet and the back door -- all of which do not have a baked on Lustron porcelain finish, but rather, a conventional coating, spray applied at the factory. In contrast, all the baked on porcelain surfaces including interior wall panels, ceiling panels and exterior siding panels appear rust free.

The last photo in the series shows a characteristic heating oil drum just outside the back door. Although the home's heating system was upgraded, it still used heating oil. This oil drum is probably the original from when the house was built.
